Hot Fix Application Guide

Complete instructions for applying hotfix rhinestones, rhinestuds, and pearls to fabric

Important: Always Test First

Test your fabric and settings before starting production. Results vary by material and equipment.

Preparation

  • • Lay out your hotfix items in your desired pattern or design
  • • For larger areas or when using a heat press, we recommend covering the layout with heat fix tape before applying heat
  • • Note: HOTFIX PEARLS should only be heated from the back

Heat Press Method

Pressure

30–50 pounds of platen pressure

Important Tips

  • • Let the tape cool and the glue set fully before removing
  • • Test your machine settings before starting production
  • • The glue should pass through the fabric and be lightly visible on the reverse side

* Heat presses are available from many suppliers—from budget-friendly options on Amazon to higher-end models from screen print equipment vendors.

Iron Method

Settings & Process

  • • Use the wool setting with STEAM OFF
  • • Apply firm pressure using body weight for 1 minute
  • • Turn the garment inside out and repeat the process to fully seal the glue

Pro Tip

The iron method works well for small applications and when a heat press is not available. Apply consistent pressure and ensure even heat distribution.

Handheld Hotfix Setter

Step-by-Step Process

  1. 1. Attach the correct tip size to your setter
  2. 2. Use the setter to pick up a stone
  3. 3. When the glue begins to melt, place the stone onto the fabric
  4. 4. Use tweezers to release the stone from the setter and press it into place
  5. 5. If adhesion seems weak, apply additional heat and pressure

Best For

  • • Precision placement
  • • Small quantities
  • • Detailed designs
  • • Touch-up work
